ANNE BURK'S BIOGRAPHY
Like Tom, Anne grew up in upstate New York. She was reared in the little college town of Geneseo, near Rochester. When she had graduated from high school at seventeen, she moved to Great Britain on her own. While in the United Kingdom, she sought to achieve the most comprehensive and varied training available. She received a British Technical Diploma in Performing Arts at Oldham College near Manchester. She attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland, the Royal National Theatre Program in London, and completed the BADA Advanced Program at Balliol College, Oxford. She also received conservatory training as a graduate from East 15, one of the most controversial acting schools in the United Kingdom.

Anne returned to the United States where she received a BA in Theater Arts (Magna Cum Laude with Honors) at San Jose State University. During her undergraduate work, she was awarded as an Irene Ryan Nominee (Kennedy Center Competition), California State University Undergraduate Researcher of the Year, and the ACTF (American College Theatre Festival) Meritorious Achievement Award for directing. Anne then went on to complete an MFA in Acting at UCLA, where she presented her thesis, THE REUNION, a one-person show.

Anne has worked as a performer, director, and teacher in both the United Kingdom and the United States. She currently teaches Voice and Speech to the students of the Tom Todoroff Studio in Santa Monica and the Seniors in the Theatre, Film, and Television Department at UCLA.

Teachers or methods that she has studied include; IPA, Edith Skinner, Cicely Berry, Clifford Turner, Kristin Linklater, Roy Hart, and Catherine Fitzmaurice. In addition, she has done a great deal of bodywork directly related to the voice such a Yoga, Laban, Alba Emoting, Feldenkrais, Body Mind Centering, Alexander Technique, Core Energetics, and Qi Gong. Anne is an active member of VASTA (the Voice and Speech Trainers Association).

Anne is passionate about teaching and is committed to preparing her students for any role. She feels that every student should leave her classes ready to tackle everything from the physical demands of Shakespeare in the Park, to very specific dialect or accent research for film.
