Discipline and Willingness
Actors and students of all levels are warmly welcomed. As a lifetime New Yorker, I find Los Angeles (largely due to geography and density of population) comparatively chilly. It is our mission to remedy this remoteness and isolation, by creating a joyful community of skilled artists. Individual will is powerful. Like-minded group support is omnipotent.
Class environment is unusually supportive. Acting lessons are designed to help the actor shed "competitive defense mechanisms," facilitating access to one's unique vulnerability, which is the cornerstone of all great acting. Work to be expressive, rather than impressive.
The work is all-encompassing and prescriptive, based on each individual's specific needs, with a strong concentration on vocal work, as the authority of one's acting is directly proportional to the muscularity of one's voice. The rate of progress and transformation is breathtaking.
The material is challenging, ranging from the Greeks, Shakespeare, Ibsen, Strindberg, Chekhov, Williams and Miller, to new playwrights, original material, musical pieces and cold reading for film and television. The Art, Spirituality and Business of an Acting Career. Each individual, with guidance, chooses their own materials as all art stems from a point of view. Strong writing creates strong actors.

The night you believe that you are "too overwhelmed" to show up is usually a mysterious gift, as it is the night of your breakthrough. Don't miss it. Walk through this perceived fire, rather than be consumed by it.
