Meron Langsner, PhD is an award winning playwright, scholar, and fight director. He has published dozens of articles and reviews in academic, trade, and popular publications including HowlRound, The Sondheim Review, Text & Presentation, New England Theatre Journal, Backstage, Puppetry International, The Fight Master: Journal of the Society of American Fight Directors, and The Journal of Asian Martial Arts. He was one of three writers in the country selected for the pilot year of the National New Play Network Emerging Playwright Residencies
His plays have been performed around the country and overseas, and published by Bloomsbury, Smith & Kraus, Applause, Indie Theatre Now, and YouthPLAYS. As a fight director, he has composed violence for over 150 productions, films, and tours in venues that include The ART (American Repertory Theatre), Merrimack Rep, New Repertory Theatre, and Incubator Arts.
Meron holds an MA in Performance Studies from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, an MFA in Playwriting from Brandeis, and a PhD in Theatre History from Tufts University, where he won the Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education. www.MeronLangsner.com
