In the late spring, we will contact you to assign you a scene partner for the summer intensive. You are also welcome to sign up with a friend who also enrolled in the program. If you’d like to work with a friend, please email us at NYCSummer@TomTodoroff.com to let us know asap.
Once assigned your partner - please get in touch with your partner RIGHT AWAY and do your best to select a piece within a couple weeks that you send to us for approval. Take the time to choose a scene together that you both LOVE. The scene should be 3-4 minutes in length by either an author listed on the Syllabus or a scene from our Suggested Scenes List. Please email us at NYCSummer@TomTodoroff.com for approval before you begin rehearsing.
We are all actors and this means that your scene partner MAY find out that he / she has a professional acting job the week of the summer program. For this reason, we ask that all attendees also have at least one monologue prepared to work on in the event that his / her scene partner cannot attend. It’s rare that this happens but it can happen so we want you all to be prepared!
We recommend choosing from the Suggested Monologues Lists or if you have another piece that’s by an author on the syllabus - that’s fine too! The monologue should be 1-2 minutes and - again - Please email us at NYCSummer@TomTodoroff.com for approval before you begin rehearsing.
Please note: The point of the work is to learn to act, not to get through your scene or monologue. So please know that if Tom stops you before you've reached the end of your performance it's because he's more interested in ensuring you know how to work specifically, truthfully and with relaxation from moment to moment.
