FIRST TIME PERFORMERS (Those who have not yet been personally coached by Tom.)

Please prepare:

  • a 1-2 minute monologue from our list of recommended pieces

Recommended Monologue List - FEMALE

Recommended Monologues List - MALE

  • OR work on your audition skills with a "cold read audition."

Monologues are rehearsed ahead of time.  Cold read audition sides are sent out the day before the intensive.

RETURNING PERFORMERS (Those who have previously been personally coached by Tom)

You are welcome to work on:

  • a 3-4 minute scene
  • OR a 1-2 minute monologue
  • OR a cold read audition.

Scenes and monologues must come from our list of recommended pieces.  We will do our best to find you a scene parter, but please understand this will depend on who else is enrolled and available for scene work.  You are also welcome to sign up with a friend.  Once assigned your partner - please get in touch with your partner RIGHT AWAY to choose a scene together that you both LOVE from our Recommended Scenes List within 7 days of receiving your scene partner email.

ALL PERFORMERS - PLEASE CHOOSE 2 BACKUP MONOLOGUES

Occasionally Tom will ask if you have additional material you can work on.  Please be ready for this by doing the following:

  • Go to the list of recommended monologues for male / female and select 2 pieces that are a good fit for you.

Recommended Monologue List - FEMALE

Recommended Monologues List - MALE

  • Print out these two monologues and bring the this text with you to the intensive.

You need not be 'off book' for these backup pieces - it's OK to read them.  If you're 'off book' - good for you!

As you continue your training, you'll eventually want to have at least six monologues in a variety of styles that you can perform at any time.  Look at this as an opportunity to begin developing your arsenal of monologue material that you're prepared to perform at any time.

COLD READ AUDITION actors do not need a backup monologue, though it's always a good idea to have them.

If for any reason, you are not finding a piece from the recommended list that works for you - please reach out to the TT team and ask for assistance.  We are happy to help!

EMAIL US:

All material must be approved BEFORE you start rehearsing.

Whether you choose to work on a monologue or a scene:

  • If you have chosen a piece from our Recommended list, please email us with the TITLE and the AUTHOR.
  • If your text is NOT from our Recommended list, then please email us the TITLE and the AUTHOR along with A COPY OF THE TEXT.

All backup monologues must be approved as well, again::

  • If you have chosen a piece from our Recommended list, please email us with the TITLE and the AUTHOR.
  • If your text is NOT from our Recommended list, then please email us the TITLE and the AUTHOR along with A COPY OF THE TEXT.

--------

Please note: The point of this work is to learn to act, not to get through your scene or monologue.  So please know that if Tom stops you before you've reached the end of your performance it's because he's more interested in ensuring you know how to work specifically, truthfully and with relaxation from moment to moment.
